The top two teams in the country battle Sunday afternoon when Stanford takes on USC in the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship. The two teams have combined for three total losses and each of those have come against each other. The Cardinal beat the Trojans twice this year, most recently on April 30th in the MPSF Tournament championship game 12-7. The Trojans beat the Cardinal 17-12 earlier in April, while the Trojans won 11-10 at the end of February. It has been a battle between the two teams each match and Sunday night should be no different except the winner takes home the National Championship.

The Trojans got to the championship with little trouble as they beat Fresno State 12-8 and then knocked off Princeton 18-8 in the semifinals on Saturday.
The Cardinal also had little trouble as they whipped Biola 23-0 in the opening match and then beat rival UCLA 14-9 in the semifinals.
Both teams have proven to be the best in the country this year and it is only fitting that they are the last two standing.
